Order flow signals for crypto
VMTradeAlert reads who is buying and selling aggressively on Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. When the 5 minute, 15 minute and 1 hour order flow all agree, you get a signal with an entry, a stop and a target.

What order flow means
Every trade has a buyer and a seller. Order flow looks at who crossed the spread to make the trade happen. A buyer who lifts the ask is an aggressive buyer. A seller who hits the bid is an aggressive seller.
Add up each side over a candle and compare. The gap is called delta. More aggressive buying than selling gives a positive delta. More aggressive selling gives a negative one.

How VMTradeAlert measures it
- Each candle gives total volume and taker buy volume from Binance. Buy share is taker buy volume divided by total volume. Sell share is the rest. Delta is buy share minus sell share, in percent.
- The signal scan averages delta over closed candles: the last 12 on 5 minutes (1 hour), the last 8 on 15 minutes (2 hours) and the last 6 on 1 hour (6 hours).
- The scan runs every 60 seconds for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. It does not run on Saturday or Sunday, Indian time.
- The Order Flow page also shows 1 minute, 30 minute, 4 hour and 1 day views for reading the market yourself.
When a signal fires
All three agree
Average delta is above +3% on 5m, 15m and 1h for a buying signal, or below -3% on all three for a selling signal.
Price agrees
The net price move over the 1 hour window must point the same way. If delta says buying but price fell, the signal is dropped.
Once per episode
A signal fires when alignment starts, not on every scan. It re-arms when alignment breaks or flips. Each coin waits 60 minutes after its last signal.
Conviction check
The average of the three deltas sets the conviction label. Right now only Medium signals are sent. Weak and Strong are held back.
How conviction is labeled
| Average delta (absolute) | Label | Sent today |
|---|---|---|
| Above 15% | Strong | No. The move is usually stretched by then. |
| Above 8%, up to 15% | Medium | Yes |
| Up to 8% | Weak | No |
What a signal contains
Direction and entry
Buying or selling, with the price at the moment the signal fired.
Stop
1 ATR from entry. ATR is the Average True Range of the last 14 one-hour candles.
Target
4 ATR from entry, a fixed 1:4 risk to reward.
Context
The three delta readings, so you can see how strong the agreement was.
Each signal is scored automatically against its stop and target for up to 72 hours. See the results on the track record page.
How you receive signals
- Telegram message with entry, stop and target. Included in paid plans. How Telegram works.
- Email.
- Voice call, if you add and verify a mobile number.
- The Order Flow page and an in-app notification.
Which channels you get depends on your plan and your settings. See pricing.
What the Order Flow page shows
- Buy and sell share and delta for each candle, from 1 minute to 1 day, with a flag when price moved against the flow.
- Multi-timeframe alignment: net buying or net selling on each timeframe.
- Trend bias on 1 hour, 4 hour and 1 day, from EMA 50 and EMA 200 structure.
- Resting liquidity from the order book: bid and ask bands around price.
- A list of recent alignment signals with their deltas.
Access to the page depends on your plan. Looking for price alerts instead? See crypto price alerts and gold price alerts.
Limits you should know
- Delta is context, not a prediction. It tells you what already traded.
- Signals lose. At a 1:4 payoff, most signals are expected to hit the stop, and the result depends on the winners being large enough.
- Stops and targets are set by a formula. They are not tuned to a chart you are watching.
- The data comes from Binance. Other venues can differ.
- Fees and slippage reduce real results.
Signals are information, not advice to buy or sell, and no result is guaranteed. Read the risk disclaimer before you trade.
Order flow signals FAQ
What is an order flow signal?
It is a message that says buyers or sellers have been the aggressive side on three timeframes at once (5 minute, 15 minute and 1 hour), and that price over the last hour moved the same way. It comes with an entry, a stop and a target.
Which coins does VMTradeAlert scan for order flow signals?
The crypto scan covers Bitcoin (BTCUSDT), Ethereum (ETHUSDT) and Solana (SOLUSDT). It runs once a minute and skips Saturday and Sunday in Indian time.
How are the stop and target set?
From the 1 hour Average True Range over the last 14 candles. The stop is 1 ATR from entry and the target is 4 ATR from entry, a fixed 1:4 risk to reward. A signal is scored against a 72 hour window.
Does a signal mean price will go up or down?
No. Delta describes what already happened in the candles. It is context, not a forecast, and any signal can hit its stop. With a 1:4 payoff, most signals are expected to lose, so the result depends on the few that reach target.
How do I receive order flow signals?
By voice call, email and Telegram, depending on the plan you have and the settings you choose. Telegram alerts are included in paid plans. Signals also appear in the Order Flow page inside the app.
Will I get the same signal again while the move continues?
No. A signal fires once when alignment starts. It can fire again only after alignment breaks and forms again, or after it flips to the opposite direction. Each coin also waits 60 minutes after its last signal.
